A bit. The lack of uber-Resistance charms hamstrings the Earth Terrestrials a bit, and Air is specialised in non-combat areas, although Sorcery can make up for that. Wood is a mixed bag; it can be as good as the others at range but close up they're hamstrung.

As for the Immaculates, the varying requirements make big differences at char gen but the top-level charms sway the opposite direction. Air Form is horrifying in combination with Thrown charms (lotsa reflexives in Thrown and they count as Form weapons), and the highest level Wood charms are terrifying.

Have just checked, btw, according to "MEP: The Dragon Blooded" he shouldn't have had Air Form at all, which in Storyteller's Companion he could have.
*grumbles about disparities*

I have a bunch of fully genned DBs for next sesh so hopefully we can avoid these problems.  And yes, they are bloody scary.

I find the wood ones mostly useless tbh, though the fire immaculate style on flurry's is terrifying

Also in the lunar book with claws of the silver moon does it use your modified str when in war form cause if so that is completely beyond the pale.

... and now in a fit of magnificent timing I've come down with a fairly mild bug of some kind.

So now I'm in the unenviable position of choosing whether to call tonight off or run the risk of giving you all this unpleasantness. Neither seems terribly appealing.

Fire Style is awesomely great, albeit not even close to Charcoal March of Spiders levels of insane. It's on a par with a properly combo-d out Snake Style practitioner. Or Tiger Style in general. Which is about right.

As for Wood Style... Unbreakable Fascination Kata? A paralysing effect for a DB that doesn't have an Essence ceiling and can't be WP'd away? Soul Marking Strike? A combo-able supplemental that adds automatic successes to future rolls? Imagine that in a combo with First or Second Martial Arts Mastery and flurried to all hell...

Yes, it does, with the additional mote expenditures mentioned at the end of the charm. I wouldn't say that was beyond the pale, though, given they're meant to be just beneath Solars in power level but focused entirely on massive physical prowess rather than All Round Awesomeness. Big dice pools and even bigger damage levels don't really matter to a seriously combat-focused Solar.

Claws of the silver moon is crazy, If you use it with instinctive dex mastery, AS they get DEX and STR as acc and dmg modifiers any combat excellency use while claws is up is effectively doubled, Combined with any STR 14 form and water dragon form to get + essence on martial arts rolls you can quite easily force a solar to perfect every single attck without much essence expenditure

SOul marking strike is pretty tasty but is in the slot where many other dragon blood arts get an attack that imposes a -1 stackable internal penalty ( Breath-seizing technique, Searing fist attack) Searing fist attack i also a supplemental, with that combod up and combined with the tiny penalty a fire style gets on flurrys it would be really nasty

Actually, I just went and checked. According to the official errata:

Quote:
Issue: Claws of the Silver Moon, p. 144.
Clarification: This Charm bases its modifiers on the natural, unmodified Attribute ratings of the Lunar’s true human form.

So activating during DBT applies the human mods, but costs extra.

Also, where are you getting STR 14 warforms from? As far as I can tell, that involves being at least Essence 5 and taking Devastating Ogre Enhancement. Are you thinking of Green Sun Child / Heart-Theft of the Behemoth "crazy shit" forms?

True. The Charm's marginally weaker (in that only you get the benefit, not everyone as with Water and Fire) but the tracking powers more than make up for it.

Really Wood Dragon Style is built for spirit murdering.

Oh, and again, errata on Unbreakable Fascination - it should be an Emotion effect (and thus unnatural mental influence, costs 2WP to handwave).

Sorry wrote that wrong, before errata on Claws it was best to stay in Spirit shape as that allowed you to get the str 14, I think there are several that have it, I know tyrant lizard definitely does

No game this week, I'm just coming down with some kind of bug and I do NOT want to spread it to you guys. We'll be back next week.

edit: To clarify, I am deeply unhappy about this - if there were some way to run this thing from inside a hazmat suit I would.
